On Equivalence Relations Between Interpreted Languages, with an Application to Modal and First-Order Language

چکیده

Abstract I examine notions of equivalence between logics (understood as languages interpreted model-theoretically) and develop two new ones that invoke not only the algebraic but also string-theoretic structure underlying language. As an application, show how to construe modal operator what might be called typographical notational variants bona fide first-order languages.

Modal Logics Between Propositional and First-order

One can add the machinery of relation symbols and terms to a propositional modal logic without adding quantifiers. Ordinarily this is no extension beyond the propositional. But if terms are allowed to be non-rigid, a scoping mechanism (usually written using lambda abstraction) must also be introduced to avoid ambiguity. Since quantifiers are not present, this is not really a first-order logic, ...

Translating a first-order modal language to relational algebra

This paper is about Kripke structures that are 1. inside a relational database. 2. queried with a modal language. At first the modal language that is used is introduced, followed by a definition of the database and relational algebra. Based on these definitions two things are described: 1. a mapping from components of the model structure to a relational database schema and instance. 2. a transl...

Binding An Interpreted Language to CORBA

This paper describes LuaOrb, a binding between the extension language Lua and CORBA. Like other CORBA bindings, this binding allows a program to manipulate CORBA objects in the same way it manipulates local objects. Unlike conventional bindings, however, LuaOrb is based on the CORBA Dynamic Invocation Interface, mapping its dynamic character to the dynamic type system of Lua. This binding bring...
